This is a rare opportunity for viewing.

Bacon painted it in 1969, it's had few public showings,

and at times has been broken up into different pieces held in private collections.

It drifted and then out of view, single panels shown, but not the whole thing until 1999,

and then it disappeared again until it appeared at auction.

A month later it was here at the Portland Art Museum,

abruptly on display as part of a masterwork series.
